But that would have been a long way to drive for all the people celebrating Tulsa's 50th anniversary...

True, Im just saying they were stupid to think it was waterproof especially in a non-arid area

Well all we know is there was water inside, no one has seen the car yet without the plastic, correct?

Ever been the first on the scene of an accident and hesitated to look inside the wreckage for fear of what you'll see?

..........I'm getting the same feeling with this car.

Water invadeds throught the tiniest of holes or cracks, the car might have survived if had been buried out here with adaquate drainage that drained off what little rain we get

One pinhole anywhere in those 3 layers of plastic, and that car is toast. It was naive to think that the tomb would not have water in it. And, they obviously did a terrible job of sealing the lid around the edges.
The pics showing the Belv sitting in knee-deep water made me ill. They should have just parked it in the lobby of the city wall and roped off for 50 years.

Or built a room around it..(so it would keep some elusiveness) Great idea though..
And to even think that plastic held out any water (they probably just did it tarp style) that poor thing was totally submerged in water for probably 40 years.

My thinking too. I WAS going to drive up from Dallas but wont go now.

You know, this got me thinking.

This is going to be a party, here in Tulsa, regardless of the condition of the car. The car's unveiling is just the catalyst for the party. The celebration is about the centennial, not just the car.

Granted, there will be disappointed people, but, the flip side will be the car shows around town, the party for the centennial and the event - in and of itself. Should still be a good time.

I have two sofas and chairs set up in my home for those parking here, who wish to avoid the nightmare and cost [by watching the simulcast on TV] the actual unveiling will create.

I think the local Hazmat team checked it out and it's just plain 'ol muddy water they're pumping....no EPA to worry about. Now IF that's the case...then maybe there's hope that the can of gas and case of motor oil in the trunk is still intact (IE: didn't leak out and contaminate the water and thusly get the EPA and Hazmat teams all excited). Also...wouldn't all the cosmoline leave a detectable residue if it's been in contact with water for 50 years?

OK, its Vacuum sealed in 3-bags..there is a SLIM possibility the car has made it. Why? Because the event hasn't been called of...

Its all a hoax. They just added the water to the hole just before the pics. The car is mint. Plublicity stunt by Chrysler.

I watched the video.
Was that lady in charge getting ready to cry??? Give me a break
In the video it shows worker frantically putting up privacy plastic on the fence to keep anyone from seeing inside. I'm sure they're going to peek inside the car's plastic covers to see just how stupid they are going to look.
Their best bet is to yank the rotted car out of the hole and get Foose to come in and do a Overhaulin' episode ASAP
