Alrighty. Who's going to be our Johnny-on-the-spot? Video is essential.

I emailed CNN and FoxNews to make sure they get video from their local affiliates.

Ten days to the waterlogged coffin. I predict an underwhelming result for all the hoopla.

I do hope I'm wrong and it comes out looking something like a 57 Plymouth should.

pete, i have press passes to be the official photographer for moparts.com, and will be there for even the (not public) actual unearthing of the car, and will get you guys plenty of pics, and am going to try for video. they are a bit picky about video equip, but ive been talking to the coordinator, and i think i will be able to swing video as well.

I really hope it's in decent shape. From the website, I think they did the best they could to preserve it. Dave

I have to say, my interest is piqued as well since I first saw a thread on this here on Moparts last year.

As for condition, I'm gonna say the car will up to the bottom of the doors in ground water,, the trunk pan will be shot not only from ground water, but the full gas can that was put in the trunk.( Hopefully I'm wrong on all accounts)

Either way, it'll be cool to see the pics, cant wait

I'm having this weird feeling, like Heraldo and Al Capones vault. What if it's buried in the wrong spot or that the tomb flooded out?

It'll be interesting to see just what happens to the car. According to the website, back in '57 the whole town supoosedly guessed what the population of Tulsa would be in 2007. The guesses are on microfilm stashed in the car. Whatever resident comes closest is going to get the car and all it's contents. Now '57 was waaaaaaaay back, so if the person is deceased, thier heir is supposed to get it. Again, It will be really interesting

Oh, it will be interesting all right.... If the CAR has been filled with water for 50 years as some suggest the microfilm hopefully better have survived.
I bet the car has rust, but I don't think it will be a "tomb full of water".

Dibs on the beer!

I think it will be pretty cool. Hopefully the vault has not cracked from earth shift or anything else. It would be amazing to see the car come out unscathed, but I think the reality is it will have suffered some damage from water penetration.

Better Website, actually the main one:

http://www.tulsaworld.com/webextra/content/2007/buriedcarunearthed/default.aspx

There was an excellent write up of the vehicle it in the Auto Restorer.

The winner of the car would be determined and notified of it in 50 years if they were the closest to guess what Tulsas population was going to be. There was some "guess the population raffle in 50yrs" deal.

Someone is going to be happy or their estate will be.

BTW from what I have read there is a lot of interest in this car from auto muesums, especially the chrysler museum. Its a one of a kind piece which means lots of paying visitors.

Another week and counting.
