Looks like they could be hitting a few thunderstorms - hopefully no hail!

If you guys stop in Limon for the day, I might be able to come see ya (about 50 minutes from me).

moparcollector, this time of year anything's to be expected, huh. At least when they get to eastern Co. and western Ka. all they have to worry about is 50mph winds. The lightning storms at nighttime are always pretty cool also.
The tona will slice thru the wind tho!

UPDATE FROM THE ROAD:
This just in... John called me from his cell phone to let everyone know that both cars (the Aussie Falcon and the Daytona) are both running and performing like champs. The Falcon is sucking down oil a tad excessively, but nothing that can't be dealt with. The Daytona is performing flawlessly and they decided to sorta' "see what she had"! Not only is the gender reference pointed towards the winged wonder, but to the pilot of this wild machine. (DG at the wheel) They had found a nice, clear stretch of road just west of Limon, Colorado to test the aerodynamics out a bit. How fast did they get going?... try 135 MPH!!!!!! Granted, there's always a little room for error with speedo's, but they had just recently did a mile-marker check up against the speedo to learn that the gauge is spot on accurate! Well, extremely close anyway. They said that the Daytona at 135mph felt like 60mph... smoooooooooooth as silk. Mark was a little bit up ahead of them in the Falcon and they forewarned him they were about to do this... and when they went sailing by he said it sounded like rocket going through the traps at a dragway. Too frickin' cool. I told John this sort of news is only making me kick myself that much harder for not going with them, but some of us gotta' hold down the fort, right?

Anyway... all is well with the crew & cars and they're having a blast.

That WOT blast reminded me of the time onebad... & I were on I-96 YEARS ago & John STANDS on the stock alpine white Superbird's pedal to do a little top-end. All I can say is we were over 140 & he was posessed! I was seriously thinking about crawling under the dash. Then I yelled "shut it down!" Those winged aero cars FLY! Put John behind the wheel of some horsepower & he turns into Dr. Jekyll. Too much fun! I love that yellow Falcon (Torino) too - that car looks awesome!

We used to drive/towbar many musclecars back from AZ., & the old Mopars were always least likely to have problems. GTO's broke down quite often & were plagued with odd problems. Mopars made the best pullers by far.

Good luck y'all.

Hey Eric, John gave me one of those rides on I-96, too!! We did about 135mph at that time, as well. And that was on those crummy-arse Good Year RETREADS!!! I had no idea I was in mortal danger until years later when I understood tire quality. Yikes! The only difference this time is that Dart Girl was the piloting the high speed wing car! She's a crazy lady!

SUNROOF: Not having a go but that Falcon ain't no Torino

Although they did design it to look like one..my guess would be the falcons maybe a foot and a half shorter?, and all locally made panels.

Fury:

First of all I have been very busy and don't check the internet as much as John and Mark do. This is Johns computer and his account and I don't want to be an internet hog.

Secondly, I haven't the time to go read through 150 post to see exactly what everyone said. It isn't my wish to skip over post or what someone says to me or to ignore anyone. I just don't have the time right now and will read this post in it's entirety when I return home which should be early morning tomorrow.

I think you should have just private messaged me if you thought I were ignoring you instead of making me look like someone who doesn't care.....

Anywayz, on to kewler issues:

OH MY GOD, driving the Daytona at such high speeds was something I can't describe. I've pushed the back space button several times after attempting on trying to describe how it felt.

Even though I was going at 135 (without full throttle) heh heh.. it felt like we were doing 60 because it was that smooth of a ride.

Man that car screams. I might have to steal the keys from John and just say I ummmmm lost them and drive away into the sunset never to be heard from again. Say... anyone know someone that could repaint it for me real quick and give me a new vin number?

We've had a blast and we have been very tired moving around and driving for such long distances. God, we must be crazy to take these two cars across the country but if you could only see how many smiles this car has brought to the men and women in each state we have been to, or each gas station, restaurant, hotel etc. you'd know it was worth it all.

Thanks again to everyone for coming with us on our trip which is about to come to a close after tonight, we appreciate you all (I do at least)

Take care,
DG

Mal, the Daytona is running 3.55 gears and was revving pretty good on DG's banzai blast in Colorado. It was AWESOME!

Anyways, we are about to leave Kansas City, Missouri and will be driving all night to get to Indy. We'll have lots more pics to post when we get home. As DG said, we want to thank everyone for riding along with us. We've still got 800 miles to go but we're in the homestretch. It's been a blast beyond what any of the three of us can describe and something we will never forget.

too bad you dont have a good dog along. it would would be nice to know what it feels like to stuck my head out the window at 135.

it dont get any better than that for a dog.

im not good with numbers but 800 miles is only 6 hours at 135. you would have been home 5 hours ago.

welcome home guys & gal.
