I recently received my IBM punch card from Chrysler and they decoded everything but the engine. I e-mailed a copy of my punch card to a fellow moparts member and from what he could tell it's a max wedge or hemi motor but not sure which one. Just wanted to know if anyone has the books/info to decode this for me. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send you my punch card.

Its just too bad that the IBM punch cards were lost for all the 1969 cars. I was told a fire destroyed them but then was told by a good source that all the 1969 cards were lost in a flood. What a loss of great information.

John, they have punch cards for '67 cars for sure. Possibly not '68 cars.

the cards are only avaliable thru 67 and its a photocopy not the real card. it is a photocopy from microfish and it cost $45 DOLLARS IF YOU CAN READ IT OR NOT.
I was thinking they changed systems after 67 as well and might not have even used IBM cards anymore.( thats about when there where big changes in codes and broadcast sheets as well). I have seen something tha looks like IBM cards stuck in seats before but it think if was something the seat maf use not Chrysler.

Sorry, whats a IBM Punch card?
As stated above, it was the first step in generating the broadcast sheets. The pre-67 cards than Hemi Harvester referred to contain all the the critical data for your car that would be on the BS...the VIN, SO number, engine, tranny, sales options, etc, etc, just in a different format. I've seen some that are easy to read and some that are impossible. They are decoded similar to a BS.

Well this is mine: I still would like to get someone to read it so I can complete the broadcast sheet. I have the torn up broadcast sheet and the correct punch card in perfect condition. You can't win em all I might have to get everything rekeyed when this thing is rolling

Thanks again! Well Chrysler Historical doesn't have the newer stuff available, so I might be out of luck if I don't find the missing pieces to the BS sheet I do have. It's a bummer because I'm missing a bunch of info at the top of the sheet like the VIN (guess that would be important if I had a $150,000 GTX), the rear end info, and etc... I didn't check under the seat maybe that is next.

Depends on the punch card. The early ones, with the production info, do. The Quality control card does not.
Hey Doug, How ya doin ?
I think the real value in having the punch card for 68 and earlier cars is that it ties the SO number and the VIN together. So, you have a good title and VIN. We'll use my GTX for example. I also have the fender tag with the SO. No build sheet. Obviously the VIN shows the car as a 440 (L)Which as I understand was only available in the B body Plymouth as a GTX ,but who's to say some previous owner just did the dash swap on a Sattelite. If you have the punch card, it will have the SO number on it that should be stamped on your radiator support, trunk lip and fender tag. The punch card also has the VIN on it. If it all matches, in my humble opinion. You have established at least, pedigree. Not sure it is a valid point, but it helps me sleep at night......

Doin' well thanks! And you?
Your car is a perfect example of why the Quality Control card can be very useful. It ties the VIN and SO/VON together.

It is a 1966. I would like to know the axle the car was ordered with since my Dart is one of the VERY few that came with the factory 8 3/4. Knowing the gear ratio would be a huge deal since this car was ordered as a factory performance car.
