I just put a new windshield in my 68 coronet last night. You shouldn't detroy the weatherstrip taking the windshield out but trying to save the glass from cracking is very tough and requires a lot of patience and soapy water. That model should have a locking weatherstrip which when unlocked helps with removal. Even the pros have a difficult time taking windshields out without breaking them. Good luck!

Make sure you have the right tool, glass sticks, to roll the seal back. Do it in warm weather but not in direct sunlight. Make sure you have the seal completely broken from the face of the windshield before you try to remove the windshield. Then start at the top and head for the corners going both directions from the center. Don't get impatient and force anything. You'll do fine.

If your looking to reuse the glass i'd forget saving the rubber. Your gonna crack the glass. Pro's most times won't try to save a rubber. Better to spend 75 bucks on a new rubber then 300 on a new glass. Also it will make reinstalling so much eaiser. For the 50 60 bucks i'd have a pro pull it and reinstall it.

Chris,
Removing the windshield is real easy as long as you plan on replacing the rubber, I just take a box cutter and cut the rubber out around the glass and then carefully apply pressure at a couple of different spots to redistribute load and they usually pop right out. I have only lost one windshield out of dozens doing it this way and that was because it was outside in the winter and I got impatient. My wife and I reinstalled the window in my 65 Dodge, I bought the seal from Year One, it takes a LOT of patience on the install. Good Luck!

remove the trim. Take a razor knife and cut the flap off the gasket that overlaps the glass. Take out the glass and remove whats left of old gasket. Get a new gasket. I'd have a glass company do it. It's not worth breaking that glass to try and save a couple of bucks.

The hardest part about removing my '65 Coronet windshield was removing the "chrome".
