The body is in the shop and as that is being done I am working on the things I can. Here are the interesting factory options...

340/727/3.55
14" Magnum 500s
Floor Console/Shifter
InViolet
black buckets
black top
A01 Light package
A/C
Elastomeric front & rear bumpers
Standard hood with pins

I will start of with some pics of my rear end rebuild...

It is a 8 3/4 with 3.55 sure grip and a 742 case. I don't plan on opening it up but time will tell. Here is a shot of it after I removed it from the car and removed the hub.

I removed all the springs, plates, etc and here is what was left (one more pad to remove).

Then I took it to the local sandblaster and I am waiting for it back...

You can look at many more detailed pics of the removal of all the brake stuff at my photobucket (http://s1000.photobucket.com/albums/af130/cudastruction/).

I wouldn't reccomend sand blasting it, the factory finish on the steel tubes is smooth, sand blasting will texture it.

Wow....That's a lot of car if it's all original, you must have dozens of people breaking your door down wanting to buy it!

First off....It looks as if rust has already taken care of the smooth axle tubes. I agree with the sandblasting, but after that I strongly suggest you take it completely apart. Replace all the axle seals, bearings, pinion seal etc....Fresh oil and sure grip additive is a must!

I've restored several 71 Cudas and have always wanted an original BS27*1B for myself

Yeah, when I originally registered the car I had a couple people call me (they must have done some dmv search) but I told them no and haven't registered it again since I am restoring it and it wont be on the road for a while.

Regarding the sandblasting...time has taken its toll on the rear end and the entire car in general. Rust damage will make 100% originality an unobtainable goal since it isn't a hemi but I will do my best to make things look as original as possible. There are ways to make the tube smooth again so I am not worried about the blasting.

A little more info...the car is #s matching but I bought another 340 block. I have bored and stroked the non-original block to a 416. The car also came with a non-original tranny in addition to the original trans. I am not sure what to do with the tranny other than get it rebuilt with a nice performance shift kit.

More pics are on their way. I need to get them off my old computer
