The old bushing was seated,I found that out the hard way.
In the aluminum block it looked like it was not seated. So I tried to knock it on down and when it would not go down,I pulled the oil pump and knocked it out. I have been running Big Block Mopar for 25 years never had this problem before. First time I have ever knocked out one of these bushings. But I did learn this much, I hit it pretty hard trying to knock it down(did not think it was already flush)but only give it a little tap and it pop right out. Right down into the oil pan, another lesson learned the hard way. Not the way I planned on doing it.
Mr Cab_Burge,Thanks for the info. I have thought about that also, but that alone may not be enought. I just hope either the bushing or dist. gear was off.
Anyone else have any more suggestion's just in case I need them? THANKS!!!!!
