What coil springs are you running? Car weight? Ladder or 4 link? What's the best bang for the buck single adjustable shock?

Most seem to run 110#-130#, I remember Lonnie saying he had 210# springs awhile back.

I need to order better shocks and springs soon, I've been playing with 130# and 170# springs but the tires are shot so I haven't learned anything yet, just getting more confused.

QA1 130# springs
moroso adjustable drag shocks
ladder bar
3550#

-if the side walls are shot on those slicks i wouldn't do anything with the springs or shocks til you can get some new meats..imo....i chased my tale for a month trying to figure out why my car wouldn't 60' consistently..it was the slicks(sidewalls)..i tried everything from diff. air pressure to going up and down with the ladder bars..-it was the slicks- put a new set on and it was right back to normal..every car will react different to changes, but you need to have a constant and that constant needs to be good slicks..get those then make changes as needed..

I work in tech and sales at QA1. QA1 offers single and double adjustable coil over shocks for many applications. There are single, double and the "R" single adjustable shocks that bolt in the stock location. QA1 has spring lengths in 7", 9", 10", 12" and 14" and spring rates from 85lbs to 650lbs. You can also look at www.qa1.net for more information. Give me a call at 800-721-7761 if you need any help. thanks, Dan

Yea the tires will make a big difference but on my last car I could turn the knob on the shocks and feel the difference by pushing down on the back of the car. With the Chassis Engineering shocks on this car, which I just recently paid to have rebuilt, I can turn them from full soft to full hard and there's no difference.

My friend that works on Chassis stuff said that a ladder bar car should be very stiff when pushing down on the rear of the car, is this true?

My coil-overs total length is 16 3/8, fully compressed is 12". Does that sound right? Seems like only 4 3/8" of travel.

I'm looking at the Strange #S5206 single adjustable shock, would that be a good one for my car?
Here's a link.............

looking at your pic it looks like you have more than an inch of squeeze on your springs. on a post on here earlier i think it was chassisman suggested that the springs only be compressed 1". how well are your rear suspension working with your springs compressed that much as you have? surely your extention must be somewhat limited?

BoB I would go with a Qa1 or strange with a 110lb spring should work good on your car and not break the bank.

3200 lbs total, front heavy.

130 lb springs, ladder bar

I wouldn't put any spring stiffer, 110-130, IMO

I went with 140 lb springs to start, 117" wheelbase, 2900 pound car and a LOT of engine setback.... how do I pick too?

I assume I'll have to launch it and see what needs attention, maybe swap them out down the road, but it's gonna be my starting point....
