Contact Greg through the "Contact Us" option on his website Magnumhp.com -- thats how I got some parts I needed about 2 months ago. I believe he was in the process of helping his wife with another business then.

noticed he hasn't made a post in some time I wanted to order a part from him

Hey Fred, I bought my parts through Dram. Dan said he was a good friend of Gregs. And he sourced the parts for me.

It's about a question regarding a low mount DMI bracket that also doubles as a mount for a crank trigger. I wanted to know what parts he posted about.

anyone have pics of this bracket with an MSD 160 amp alternator?
or an ATI damper with a Jesel belt drive?

I need to know which pick up to get standard 3/4" or mini 3/8"

thanks

I make a TDC pointer with crank trigger mount for the Jesel setup and I have an optional 3/8 pickup mount. I don't think that Doty ever tooled up his 3/8 pickup mount.

If you're looking for the DMI bracket you can buy them from Mancini Racing or direct from Doty. I think GregZ went out of business and moved on to a different gig but I haven't talked to him for a long time now.

Andy, Mike made the prototype with the 3/8" pickup for me. I thought they were going to make it to production.

Hey Bigcube
how far back is that mini bracket adjustable? my ATI damper has the magnets built in

not like yours with the MSD wheel in front
I'm guessing it should work
just need to know if everything will clear

on mancini's site it says the 3/8" x 24 x 1.25 OAL pick up brackets are available on special order
http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/lowmobialbrc.html

Screw it!!! I'll just buy everything and postup my own pics

It should adjust far enough back. What is interesting is there appears to be different size wheels? Andy, yours looks larger than the balancer by quite a bit. And RylisPro, your built in wheel looks larger than the damper part? My wheel is almost exactly the same diameter as the balancer.

Yes it is larger by roughly 1/4", good call!
I guess I will have to mount the pickup flush to the bracket
with the hex nut on the back to make space
do you think I will still have room?

thanks

Not sure you could mount it flush with the one I have.

This was an early prototype. Seems like it could adjust flush with the jam nut on the back if the ledge in the slot was reversed.

could you mount the above "L" bracket backwards so it looks like a backwards "7"?
that might work?

No, the slot it fits in has a slight curve to follow the radius of the balancer. It won't fit on backward.

Here's an old pic with the big pickup and a mini alternator.

Looks like I'll have to get the dremel tool and cut out a groove to get it to fit
I'll make it work!

The damper in the picture I posted above has the BB Chevy bolt pattern so that is an 8 inch Chevy trigger wheel. I also make the pickups for the smaller Mopar wheel.

is anyone concerned about the MSD picking up some type interference or cross signals from the alternator being so close to it ???

that's why I asked about the 3/4" and 3/8" pickup
MSD 8275 is a shielded 3/8" pickup

http://www.msdignition.com/uploadedFiles/MSDIgnitioncom/Products/Distributors/8275_instructions.pdf

it is grounded and I was also going to cover it with BX cable armor & that should take care of the interference

I got my DMI bracket today! I talked to Mike Doty about my dilemma and he helped me out. Here is how I wil configure it

the lower bolt on the bottom doesn't quite fit cuz the bolt is too thick & I have to enlarge the groove
(the 2 bolts that mount the bracket itself are too long & are just for mock up. I need to get shorter allen head bolts)

my setup is using the MSD 160 amp alternator and you have to buy MSD bracket 5158 for it

here is the custom bracket Mr. Doty helped me with. it is a 3/4" pickup

I have a custom ATI damper with built in magnets that enlarge the wheel 1/4". it should clear with pleanty of clearance.
(the bolts should not be there, they are too long, I need to get shorter ones)

pic of my pulley alignment for good measure
I'll need a couple of washer to get everything perfect
