Also post whether or not you had to deep stage, and what your car will run flat out.
My dart will go a best of 9.53 2 seasons ago with low gear trans, I could cut .001 light with no delay and shallow stage
This season on shallow stage and running a best of 9.60's with standard low gear I cannot go better than .030 on shallow stage, however if I modify my stage routine to roll in deep I can go .00? and even red. My car weighs in at 2615 with me in it.
The cuda I ran at Martin is capable of running 8.90 and Weighs in heavier than my Dart, I was able to cut consistent .002-.009 with no delay in box and shallow stage, however I ran delay that made my lights between .012 and .026 in eliminations, IMO the box could have cost me more races than it helped me with.

Can cut consistent .015 to .025 lights on .400 pro tree with 3300# true ten five Cuda. Running 5.50s and 60s on 1/8. Leaving with transbrake and full stall on converter which is about 4,500. Leave the line on motor only and bring nitrous in at .02 seconds.

Lonnie correct me if I am wrong, Norwalk 2 years ago in the finals, wasn't mine a .027 against your .021? I cannot remember, mine average between .050 and .070 with out any delay, staged normal and weigh in at 3150#

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

3350 no box

best ever 028

normally 40 to 70

this is shallow staging(i always stage the same way, just habit)

chip at 3400..were i to turn the launch chip up to 4500 or so, i have no doubt i could tighten those numbers up a little, but i would have to rake my seat out after every launch

Actually it was your .021 to my .027 you just could not quite run the number.

How much roll-out should I use in my practice tree for a 26.5" tire with 1.42 60 fts?

My best on the .400 Pro tree is .004 and another .007 (pulled them both out of my azz). Car weighs 3160, 1.29 60', flat out - don't know yet - still working on it - but a best of 9.35 so far - there's more in it.

I have gone -.002 red on the .400 Pro (intentiaonally taking a shot at it), but I'm typically .020 - .030. I shallow stage - no box.

#2850 Dart in S/gas trim, box zeroed out 6000rpm launch netted low teen lites on divisional tree, not sure if that was .370 or .400 though?
8.2x's @ 165 1.18 60'

I'm pretty close to Eric for full tree, 1.13-1.14
new car needs 1.16-1.17 to stay green

Not sure where you are going with this thread but got an idea that you think Heavy Cars and .400 tres make for a good mix...I am not sure..I can average an .04 to .030 with a shallow stage and have seen a few not a lot but a few .00 lights when I deep stage.

Making the car hit a consistant .00 would require some changes....some easy some not so easy...If I was running an IHRA or NHRA class on a .400 tree I would probably change cars but for the 10.0 stuff we do I will just keep trying to get better at deep staging...

nothing special of a brake, just standard turbo action.

on .400 pro tree I have time in the delay box.

car runs 9.95 flat out, 1.35 sixty foot times.

Small tire car, alky injected gets out of the beams very quickly.

Dad has it now down in Texas. I want to get down there from seom 10.00 events. Absolutly deadly car for something like that.

At the last t&t I ran a .000 on my first pass COMPLETELY by luck and had people convinced I actually knew what I was doing then followed that with a string of crappy lights to prove I didn`t. 3150lbs. w/me.

.400 shallow (one time) with 135x15 front tires, 3150 lbs foot braking. I saw the prestage and stage lights dim when the starter hit the button and left on that

Probably a stupid question..but..

Once both cars are staged the tree is activated super quick..at what point does it get activated. I get in shallow because i dont want the car to still be moving forward towards getting in deep with my brake button not pushed in, obviously.(0therwise the car wont move)

Do they wait until both cars have "found their spot"?? to activate the tree?

what i am trying to say is that say i want to get deeper than just turning on the bottom bulb, and the other guy is already in the gate, do they wait for my car to stop creeping deeper and then setting the brake and going to the wood before activating the tree

go into the stage beam first and bump a little deeper before the other guy stages as alot of people want to stage last...

Nope - once all four bulbs are lit etiher Autostart (if on) will activate the tree or the starter will do it manually. If you are deep staging - make sure to write it on your windows and get there in a hurry.

If I am next to you and see that on your window - if we are in Quals or TNT - I will wait for you before I pull all the way in. If we are in elims, I won't wait very long - and you may run across someone who will double-bulb you just to screw with you.

The class I normally run does not allow deep staging.

I am more often than not the one that gets in last, i am kinda slow getting out of the water box, etc.....guess what i will try doing is just "driving in" to what i know is well deeper than i normally stage and see what happens.

Don, what you just mentioned is exactly how I stage my Dart. If I wanna cut better than a .04 light I simply roll into stage beam heavy and set button, not reall accurate but as long as I do not take out top amber it will trim .03 off my reaction time.

Gonna try it....

I am just so"worried" about the tree activating and being late that i just bump in shallow like i do bracket racing(thereby getting a consistant spot)

But i guess no matter how deep i get driving in is still gonna be deeper and potentially better..will try that at Notwalk and see what happens.

I really would like to leave at a higher rpm, but them ultra wheelstands come into play

i have the front end adjusted optimally with what i have to work with. 3 ways all around and leafs. right now its getting 2/3 feet of air every tbrake pass. any more staging rpm and its on the bumper, and once in a while will blow the tires off

Best ever was high .480's 1 time going in real deep, This is at 3470lbs with driver, Foot brake at 2400rpm (no 2-step) 28" front tires, S/S leafs and full front end travel. Car runs 9.90 to 10.0's everywhere and the avg. 60'is 1.37
How many rounds do you think I can win like that?

i can think of 3 races i have won(two at 131 and one at Stanton), where i was never better than high 40's during those whole races, usually 50-70.

if you can run the number and are 80 you can get lucky sometimes..it also depends on who you draw as well..you go 080 on lonnie you might as well get the tie down straps out and saddle her up

Doing ok,
Been off work for 3 1/2 months now. Fleetwood Enterprises went belly up and sold out and is now called Fleetwood RV. I go back Monday but took about a $5.00 hr. pay cut, lost 4 weeks vacation and my health insurance went up. I had almost 23 years of service with them. But i'm happy to still have a job.

Keep in mind that every track has different rollout too. This whole post comes down to the 10.0 class at the CC events and now it is happening at Monster Mopar. Eddie has stepped up and it putting it up for a vote at the CC race in Norwalk. Lonnie's car has a clear advantage in this class because his car doesn't weigh much but also because he can run smaller tires etc because he has a box. The vast majority of the racers in the 10.0 class are racng in Pro and if you run Pro then your car is set up to try and cut a .500 not a .400 John Cope told me when he started the class that he originally had the idea of people building purpose built cars for this class. It just really hasn't turned out that way and again most of the cars are Pro cars that are running Pro at the same event. Heck Monster Mopar we will be required to run a different class at the same event. Lonnie rarely gets challenged on the tree and if you give up .06 on the tree to a guy that can run under 10 flat and has any stripe driving talent at all you are gonna lose. Write it down, take a picture, whatever you are getting a yellow timeslip!!! Make it .500 tree and most of you will be right in there and the class will be much more competitive. Lonnie will still be just as good as he is now because he can put delay in... Or... Will he be?? I am only picking on Lonnie because he got up in front of a crowd of people with a mic in his hand and thanked the Blankenships for keepin the rules such that e has a clear advantage over the rest of the field.
All that being said; I will be entered in St. Louis and it will be fun

I've had four .000 lights on a .400 tree. Just bump the light #2350 Arrow with anywhere between .015-.030 in the box. Normally I carry 1.125-1.135 in the box bracket racing.

Back when I used to race in Denver.. My Barracuda was in S/ST and weighed in @ 2950#.. It could go red (.380 in Vegas...Gecker at the wheel) any time at sea level and was .005-.025 in Denver...(9000+) altitude..

So then they change S/ST to a .500 pro tree...After all the work and $$$ to get the car to react that well @ that weight..

Chris..

My tank does ok..I dont run a .400 tree much but do run the car heads up on occasion here locally. My best lite was .002 with .015 in the box. I am sure if i ran a .400 tree more we could do a bit better. I just lite the stage bulb as is. Car weighs 2860 with my lard butt in it.

Then again I lost first round on Sunday's bracket race with a .032 lite and only had 1.100 in the box. Did the saem in round 5 on Saturday with an .031 on the tree at 1.110 in the box. Both passes the previous lites were .004 which were to close so I just squeezed the button a bit more. Another interesting fact on both days my lites were almost identical and my ET'S were the exact same 10.896 on 10.90 dials and I took the stripe both times. Who said running a box in the car made it easier
