Which makes a better street rod? The 41 Plymouth is a 4 door (rear are suicide doors), Flat 6 motor not running, three on the tree, needs work on floor pans. The 49 Plymouth is a 2 dr club coupe, no motor, needs interior and one fender. Some patchwork needed on floors. Either way, I would be looking to upgrade motor, tranny and suspension to newer design. Thanks! burg

Here's a 49. For me, I'd keep looking. I prefer the 40-48 body, except the 41 front. A 4 door will never return the time and money put in. A 49 is (to me) a more frumpy car. The only ones of that era I'd consider are a 49 business coupe (think High And Mighty) or the fastback 2 doors. This is just me though! Drivelines and suspension are very similar, 41 has a huge crossmember, preimeter on the 49. The 49 will be easier for the exhaust routing. Since both need floor work, that's a draw. Are there parts missing that you will have to track down? That can be tough. The car istelf is usually not the biggest expense on old mopars, so get the best one you can afford.

Really, I also perfer the 40-48 body style, but the 4 door would cause a second look before I jumped. I just don't have a love affair with the 49 & up style.
If your still looking for a car and are planning on doing an upgrade to suspension, I'd sure take a look at the 48 Plymouth coupe Mopar Ron has started, he has done a lot of cars and this one is cheaper then you can probably do it for yourself. If I had money, I would but it. Gene
