J and J racing has begun a new battery charger durability testing program. Feel free to submit your charger for testing. Testing is usually started by draging it behind my race car at a fairly high rate of speed thru the pits all the way to the head of the staging lanes.

Anyone who witnessed that in the fourth or fifth round of super pro yesterday had to get a laugh out of that, I know I did.

Well the REAL question is, did it pass or fail?

I have done similar tests on battery chargers I've had over the years. "Unfortunately", I have found that the weak links are the charger's connection clips. They were not strong enough to remain clamped onto the charging lugs on the car for very long.

That is funny.... I have seen others doing the same
testing before. I did a similar test with my timing
light... at the launch it dropped down to the ground
but maintained its hook up on the plug... needless to
say..... it failed the test procedure... I purchased
a single wire unit since and have not tested this one
in the same test method........ YET

I use a 20 inch fan to blow on my oil pan and converter to cool things down. After running over two of them they seemed to have learned to move out of my way.

I saw a fella pull his trailer across the pits with his trailer jack down. You don't even know the trailer is there when you have a diesel.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Several comments were made on the clamps ability to not let go amongst the onlookers, I guess they didnt understand that this was a scientific testing procedure

I backed almost over mine a couple times. seen quite a few being dragged through the pits even another member from hear. I was chasing him and hollaring and another racer jumped out in front and got his attention!!
It's a time honoured tradition. keep it charging as close to the staging lanes as you can till the extension cord pulls out!!!

I run an alternator and don't charge between rounds. Or even on a 3 day weekend of racing. Not running the cooling fan an excessive amount is the key.
