Crosstalk allows racers who crossover to launch off of their opponent's top bulb to launch off of the top bulb of their own side of the tree. When a slower car's light comes on, the quicker car's light also comes on.

Simply put, assuming you know what crossing over is and why you do it: When crosstalk is activated, both first yellow lights come on at the same time,so that the faster car doesnt have to look at the slower side of the tree to cross over.

The top bulb on the faster cars side will also stay lit until his side of the tree comes down.

It also evens up the amount of time a driver can "hit" the tree. Now the faster car can only hit the tree twice just like the slower car.

Just crossing over give the faster car three hits at the tree. Once on the slower cars light, their top bulb, and their bottom bulb. I am lucky if I hit the tree just once.

I have never used a delay box. Can someone explain how you can hit the tree more than once? Will the box turn off if you press the button again and act like it would with no brake and leave when you lift off the button again on the last bulb?

There is an item mentioned in the link that explains CrossTalk that are very upsetting to me. They mention some tracks aim the lights not directly at the drivers in each lane, but straight back to give the driver in the other lane a better view of the tree. So MY visibility at MY tree is impared so the guy in the other lane can see it. That's Bull****. The faster car allready has the advantage on the red-lights; he gets 1 (or more) extra tries at the tree; now you are turning the tree so I can't see it as well! Modern crossover delay boxes are programmed for several different options. You can program it so you let go of the button on your (slower) opponents top bulb, then you can hit the button again and release it on your own top bulb and/or your second or third bulb.

The box computes which was the "best" (quickest)leave and uses that one. However the box cannot differentiate between a red light and a green light, so your "best" leave could be a red light.

I don't think there are many that use multiple hits anymore unless they know they were late on the first hit.

That sounds good on paper but it would cause some problems as well. If you stage your Roadrunner, Cuda, Dart, etc., against a dragster or tube chassis car on a pro tree..... you are going to get waxed on a steady basis.

Lighter cars and non suspended cars will react much quicker than a typical back halved or leaf sprung bracket car. I like the IDEA of a pro tree also, but it's a lot more complicated than that.

Yep thats it, put a box in your car and you become an instant hitter thats how it works I wish everyone who thought putting in a box makes you a better racer would come over to this side and give it a try. After all us box guys would not be any good if it were not for the delay boxes. So come on over, throw in a delay box and toss in a throttle stop, because that just makes it even easier and show us how it is done. Jump in with both feet the water is just fine

the problem i have with cross talk is i'm a footbraker, proclass no electronics.when i go into super pro if i'm the faster car it really screws up reaction time.top bulb stays on awyhere from 1-2 seconds the drops.running that class with out a box is hard enough without having the tree screw with you.

I dont know if all tracks do it BUT put a N on your
windshield for "no cross talk" this wont get you the
top light popping on till its for your side of the tree

in vegas if you are the faster car you can have the crosstalk turned off by putting a N next to your dial in...then you will get a regular full tree.
