Do Oxygen sensors go bad gradually or, do they either work or they don't? 02 Ram 2500 4x4 has a slightly rough idle when warmed up and has had a recent tume up. Also MSD (ignit, coil, plug wires) shorty headers, K&N, Superchip. Any other thoughts?

do you have a code?

They go bad for various reason, usually over time, but you wouldn't necessarily notice.

Not geting a code yet but, could it be going bad and not give a code? If I had a code come up I can read it with the superchip and I have a code book.
Problem could still be ignition, been eating cap and rotors. Installed cap & rotor with brass instead of aluminum electrodes.

Would that have a 5.9L V8? I have seen a lot of cracked cylinder heads. A proper scan tool that can read real time misfires will pick up that miss.

Might be worth checking. Recent MA article by E-berg talked about this very thing. Symptoms were

"lousy idle, stalling, high oil consumption - leading to detonation damage and lots of carbon.
How to test (engine installed and running)? Disconnect PCV hose, plug the hose and cap the nipple. Plug any and all make-up air hoses/caps (breather). Remove the oil cap and place your palm over the hole (engine at idle). Feel any vacuum (suction)? The gasket is shot."

I've also heard - don't know for sure - that you can look down through the throttle body (engine off) with the throttle plates open to look for oil residue on the plenum base. Oil means the gasket is shot.

unlikely you would get a bad one and not get a code.
You have 2 per cat. One before and after. If it were not throwing a code, both sensors would have to fail in a funny way so you wouldn't get a code from either one.

I suppose it is possible, but unlikely.

I agree, if it is a magnum that beer barrel intake was a poor way to do it. There is an upgrade gasket that is supposed to fix it.

12 ft pounds on the intake bolts, and I am pretty sure they are replace the bolt one use things.
