the event i my opinion was the best race ive ever been to, i had troubles with my car, lost 1/2 sec and 8 mph if it would have ran the number it did at the test and tune 10.34, im pretty sure i would have been in the race, that being said i would recommend trying to go a pinks show if you can get in, tried to meet as many people as i could who post on this site, my wife and kids got interviwed and filmed along with a couple buddys from our pit , it was a pretty close field too

**** Post Contains Some Results Information **** It was a great day. A great show was put on by some hard-charging racers, and I must say the Speed Chanel crew lays out a great day! The B.C. Contingient stood out with some of the nicest cars on the property, including some of our own moparts guys. It was nice talking with Richard, and sorry, Richard, for the drool on the fender..... his 6-pak Challenger is a masterpiece! Dustin Made a showing in the Burnout Contest with his Dart. And if Anybody here knows the crew that campaigns the "Victoria" Super Stock Hemi Barracuda, Tell him thanks for coming down! Even my Chevy buddy agreed that this car was the nicest piece of iron on the property. A few mopars made the 32-car field, and a local Dart made it to the Semi-Finals, before losing to an 18 y.o. kid in a wheelstanding Corvette that, as much as I hate to admit it, was THE SHOW all day, carrying WAY high wheelstands through the 60 ft. markers time & time again. The final pitted two Chebbies, but both were wheelstanding show-stoppers, with a nice '71 Chevelle meeting up with the Vette in the final. Minimal oil-downs, great racing, great day..... The Northwest racers did themselves proud on this day. Final note: The greatest driving job I have ever seen was laid down buy a guy in a 9-second Willy's early in the day. He hit a slick spot and found himself suddenly out of shape at about 1000 feet, doing nearly 120! Sideways left, staring at the near lane barrier..... pitched back the other way and avoided contact, only to find himself quickly in the other lane looking directly at the opposite barrier, only to successfully negotiate that disaster as well. How he drove it out the end without a scratch, I will never know. But hats off to that guy!!

The guy in the SS Cuda is Peter Wille,he owns and runs Victoria Automatic, and Island Convertors, though ironically he races mostly stick cars. He has some beautiful cars. I used to watch him run at Western Speedway in Victoria in the 80's, he used to pound through gears in his gorgeous black 70 Hemi Cuda like nobody could.
The Willys wild ride you spoke of, was it orange? If it was I was in the other lane when he lost it and ended up in my lane.
We had an absolute BLAST at Pinks, though I didn't have the best of luck I would do it again in a heartbeat. My first pass on Friday was good, I was expecting a 10.32 and it ran a 10.324.Second pass the tree comes down so fast I didn't quite get it to WOT before I let go of the button and it ran a 10.41, a bit of a slip up but not serious. Saturday on my first pass when they pointed to me to go into the waterbox, I put it into gear and the heavy spring on my shifter broke. It mostly holds the handle from flopping around or so I thought. I did my burnout and was happy to get all three gears. I had a good launch but it didn't shift into 3rd the first time I hit it. I knew right then I was sunk. I ran a 10.56...I went to town and bought a new shifter (it was the oldest part on my car!)got back and thrashed to get it all in and just barely made it into the end of my class. I ran a 10.36 on my second pass on Saturday.
The group they picked were right in my bracket,(10.20-10.40ish) if I could have run between a 10.32 and a 10.36 on the pass where I broke my shifter (it predicted a 10.34)I think I would have had a good chance of getting in.
It was an awesome day though, and there were so many people! It blows me away to see someone finally figured out how to fill the stands with people to watch a race with relatively slow cars! 10.40 cars! and it was exciting!Hats off to the Speed Network and the Pinks All out crew!!! Can't wait for the next one.
I'm going back to Pacific Raceways this weekend for the Pacific Sportsman Nationals.

GEnsrud.....I actually DID have to clean a "slobber" off a fender!!!! That's funny! Thanks for the compliment. We just got home here at 10:00 Pm...a long day of travling for sure. That weekend was absolutely astounding...so many people...so many nice machines...and a real pleasure meeting some of you Moparts Guys and families. We had Rich's right hand man Willie at the car for a good 1/2 hour on Friday...he's definitely hooked on Mopars!! Hey..as far as a masterpiece is concerned, there were lots of them there this weekend. WOW!! And I ran new bests of 10.930, 10.942, and 10.953 all at around 121 MPH and got that pesky 60' down to 1.51....the track prep was excellent. Just a couple of valve cover leaks to sort out was all I had happen, so that was a relief. I really have to thank my son MoparDonny for all his work this weekend....and he had a blast too meeting all the guys. We'd both do it again for sure. And thanks to you fellas that gave us trip info for routes, food, etc......it sure saved a lot of time and hassle. Richard

Chris, yeah it was the car that raced you.. The crowd went nuts... Saw your car, but never got to come chat. My brother and I will both be racing in the 50K race next weekend. I gotta find the time to say hi.
Superwrench, gorgeous car. I spoke to your son? for a few minutes about the car but didnt meet you. Did see the car make a clean run on saturday though.
All of the 5 cars in our group ran basically flawless, with 3 of us all running in the 11.7's in street trim, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess!
Great time was had by all, and I look forward to the next time I have an opportunity to race at Pinks.
Andrew

I had a blast this weekend . Got out of the truck at 9PM or so and the first person I saw was Mike (StrokerScamp). Had a quick BS with him and set up camp for the weekend. Met some other Moparts Members but I'm bad with names these days, Refresh my memory if I talked to you!! . When Willie came over I couldn't figure it out as to why he looked so familiar, he's alot taller in person than on camera. Sorry Mike, I wanted to come find you for another BS but I didn't see you around when I finally got around to heading up to your end of the pits. Met Dustin (TripleThreat) on the way out of the track yesterday morning, I stood by your car during the drivers meeting and was gonna say Hi but My Dad (SuperWrench) came by first and I left. I really enjoyed the weekend and would love to go back to Pacific Raceway again. The only real issue I had all weekend was with the toilet paper in the outhouses. WOW!!! That stuff was bad! For some reason I didn't take any pictures at the track and I forgot my video camera when I went into the grandstands to watch. Maybe next time. Thanks to all that came by for a chat and hopefully we'll meet again. Don.

Yes it was a fun weekend, met jeepmon, tried to find stroker scamp a few times but your pits were empty the 2 times I dropped by. i was way back in staging when chris made his pass. I ran a 10.30 and then 10.244 on friday. Saturday I hit the same spot on the track just as i shifted into drive and I went sideways, a little and backed off, ran a 11. there, second hit on the arm drop was a 10.23 so all went well. A little frustrating sometimes with what was going on but all in all there was a huge crowd and lots of laughs. Hope to see ya all again one day.We peddled it pretty good coming home and made it in 13 1/2 hours.

We were gonna come over and have a beer with ya but you know how things were. Man did we spend alot of time talking to people. My voice was actually starting to go a little by Saturday afternoon. Beer helped in keeping my throat moist. Man I love how Dirt cheap beer is down there.
