hi
my 76 big block duster has a incostince temp gauge. sometimes it will read 1/4 way sometimes 1/2 way but the engine will be 185 regardless. i know this by using a inforred temp gauge. new sending unit/good connetcions. any ideas?

old gauge

try a manual gauge on it,I dont trust the stock one on mine,tends to do the same thing

I cross check mine with a candy thermo in the rad and manual gauge both read 180* and the gauge...well it varys day to day like a bad ground on it
