No end play in my gear drive with cover insalled with gasket. Can I remove metal from the front cover plate or the button?

I shaved a tad off the button & installed an adjustable stop in the front cover.

Thanks guys. After I turn down the button, what did you use for a stop, Would a 3/8 or 7/16 SAE bolt machined off work with lock nut on the outside.

2nd thought, try doubleing the timing cover gasket and see what that does. I din't see the comment on the adjustable stop at first, sorry. I think Kieth Black sells a adjustable botton or maybe milidon does. Comp Cams sells a hard teflon button that you can gring a little off at a time and get the end play you want that way. What are you shooting for on end play in thousands total? Don't forget that the aluminum cover will move further away from the block than the steel cam and gear drive will so you will end up with more end play hot than you will measure cold .001 to .003 cold will probally be agood starting point, better yet use what the manufactors suggests
