I have lost my reverse in my 727 trans. It still has good pull in drive and low and will shift through the forward gears with no problem. It also has netural. When shifted into reverse nothing happens it does not drop the engine RPM or have any rear motion to the car. It was rebuilt about 300 miles ago but it has been over two years so I cannot carry it back to the builder. It is behind a mild 440 and does not see the strip. What could have blown out?
I also need a convertor recomendation. It will be for the 440 with a Comp extreme energy 268X cam and only see mild street action. What stall recomendations should I be running. The one in there now is locking up at idle.
Thanks
David

If you have all foreward gears then that's where to look, I have seen the low/reverse servo seal blow out, the retainer fail and the case snap ring pop out more than once, also look for the servo piston cocked in the bore..........Good luck.............Tom.

Did you check the linkage adjustment? Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies: The linkage is good I even tried to manually put it in reverse without the linkage hooked up with no luck. I will pull the pan this weekend and check the rear servo and advise my findings.
Thanks again
David

I would venture saying that either the reverse band broke or the strut came out of place.

That happened to my 727 today. I put it in reverse and nothing happened.

Taking it to my tranny guy on Wednesday.

Hoping for a quick (read: cheap) fix.
