I have heard it's not recommended to run a forward pattern valve body in anything more than a mild street/strip car. Anyone here running a forward pattern vb and have you had any issues with it? Any gains in a switch from forward to reverse pattern?

i run a forward pattern in my street car (10.43 @129) had alot of problems at first. it only had maybe 80 lbs of line pressure when i first installed it. got it up around 170-180 and works great with no issues now.

Reverse pattern on the column street car here..no chance of over shifting to neutral as can happen with a forward pattern..

I have T/A's forward-pattern manual vb w/o low-band apply. When I called T/A directly about the version with LBA, the rep on the phone talked about my combination, driving experience, etc. and said the car would be quicker w/ the non-LBA version. So, that's what I have... no problems so far.

I use the reverse as I like pulling the shifter towards me when shifting. Ron

When My Dad, and brother had thier tranny shop, they were looking for, cheap, and effective. They installed many Trans-go shift kits, including the TF-3 Full manual, forward pattern.
My brother's 3400 lb. 69 Coronet went hundreds of 10.90 motor passes, and 10.00 nitrous passes without a failure in his 727.

Don't you just put it in "D" and go?

Is this for the 72? How fast you planning on going?

Rick Allison built my forward manual valve body for my street Hemi Barracuda and I have had zero problems.

The reason for this statement is because with a forward patter VB, you are using the stock shift valves to control the shifting/timing. The VB governor circuitin the TF-3 kit for example, is modified to see full line pressure and thinks it needs to be in high gear. You are just holding it back from upshifting when in 1st or 2nd. The drawback is that you are limited on line pressure because of overlap issues.
A reverse pattern VB controls the shifting from the manual valve and gives direct control of those circuits to the manual valve. This leaves more flexability to run high line pressures and handle more HP.
