Well for those of you dimented individuals which have followed the chronicals of my misfortune over the past 14 months https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...=29#Post5245377 and https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...=13#Post5315780
First off I think you are all the kinds of guys that like to watch America's funniest home videos just to see the guy (every episode) that gets kicked, wacked, batted, karate chopped, or my personal favorite, electricuted in the nads At the very least you have to be just a bit morbid to have read through both posts/threads.
So when we last left off I had fixed my broken lifter and cam by promptly dropping the valve out of a squirter on my carb down in the cylinder and then started the engine. Leaving the details of this debacle out of it we will just state that while other things have been bad luck this time I was just an idiot. So back to I went and now a new piston and whole new set of rings (of course they were crushed in the ring lands) and we are good to go. Well as luck would have it; its the first week of July and having read my previous posts you know one of three things is happening; I am either broke waiting on parts, I have it running and it is now raining, or I am (seemingly) going a bunch of rounds. There has been alot more of the first two than the last one. Well we stop at the second choice with the rain. So Dad calls and congratulates me on getting my car fixed thus jinxing everyone from getting to race. He thinks he is a funny guy. So as soon as all the tracks call it off the rains stop and at least everyone got to see the fireworks. So I decide I am gonna make the trek to Bowling Green the next day as its only a 30% chance of rain. Get up early look at the radar. One little shower that we will probably drive through but everything south is clear. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see where this is going. I actually did get to make a pass though and it ran good and straight and I even have my brakes fixed. So we load it in the trailer in the middle of another severe thunderstorm and dad finds it necessary to tell me again that I have ruined everyone’s chance of racing by driving through the gate. Did I mention my dad is a wiseguy? But I leave and I have a smile on my face cause I went to the track and I don’t have to take a tranny or engine out this week. Amen, Hallelujah, praise 8 pound 6 ounce infant baby Jesus!!! So I am itchin all week. I wanna go racing BAD!! US60 just opened back up on Friday nights and it is looking like a chance of, yeah you guessed it, rain all weekend but I am going anyway. Well miracles never cease (great lights shining down from heaven with that heavenly sound ) it isn’t raining. The car is actually going down the track problem free. In the spirit of how things have transpired over the past 14 months; if it is on the track and running (which is rare), I am going rounds. This was no exception as 6 rounds later I hang a .012 on the fella in the final and bring me home my first victory of the year. So I am crossing my fingers , praying , etc that we have exorcized the demons . Otherwise we will just stick with this whole feast or famine theme.

I certainly hope that I will make it for the Nats. The only thing that would stop me would be something else stupid happening.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I had hoped that everyone would get some entertainment out of this whole fiasco.

How bout US 131 this weekend, if not can you promise us that you are gonna keep it in the garage this weekend? Eric, you are a great racer, you back at the track spells bad news for everyone else.

I still don't have my car back together but, I
don't want to sit in the rain again this year.

I hope you can make it, Eric.

Lonnie I probably used up all my luck last weekend. You are the one thats been whippin everybody lately.
Unfortunately I don't have enough money after all this mess to be headin all the way up there this weekend. Not to mention the 9-10 hour drive with neither Crystal nor I off on Friday. So everyone gets to whip Lonnie instead of whipping me. I will come and take my beating at National Trail next month.

Good news, I knew it had to turn around some day.

Are they still running ORSCA at US 60? July seems like an aweful late start for brackets.

Yes it is a late start err... You were talking about the track.
They have been shut down for over a year. From what I understand (strictly hearsay) the guy that ran the OSCA had purchased the track and then got himself in financial trouble (the hearsay part) and ended up closing the track. JD (original owner) has opened it back up but it took till June to get all the lawyer crap out of the way, cleanup, new timing system etc. JD and his wife do a wonderful job of running that track and that part is FACT
Charlie you ready to get that car back out yet?

Good job Eric! I told you it wouldn't be long before your next win. Now stop making Crystal stand at the starting line to distract your opponent! That is a form of cheating.

Good job.

Does that mean I have to wait until the Norwalk CC to see you? Or is there a bracket final somewhere that weekend?

Well the bracket finals are that weekend but then again I haven't been anywhere enough to qualify to go so if not I will head to Norwalk. I see Pat did very well at the last CC events
