Can anyone help me find out what dealership my '69 car was sold from when it was new? All I have are the VIN and build sheet. I know this must be like finding a needle in a hay stack but I also know there are some pretty smart Mopar addicts out there. Any help would be appreciated.

As you can see no one has any tips for me yet so just keep watching this post and hopefully someone can help us both out. If I learn anything outside of Moparts I'll be sure and send you a PM and post it here.

Your best bet will be to track the history of your car back through all the owners until you find the original owner. Then, Ask them where they bought it.

As an alternative, some states will allow you use your VIN to find out who previously owned your vehicle. It depends on state, how often they purge records, and sometimes there is a small fee.


If that fails, then your only chance is to hope that someone has kept track of all the VINs sold at the dealership your car came from and that you can find them.

If it comes down to that, you might try checking with the people that print reproduction window stickers. They like to keep track of stuff like that. I'd recommend Dave Walden at ECS. I don't remember the name of the other company that makes window stickers.

If that fails, then just cross your fingers and check with the various mopar registries. The people who run those registries are usually very knowledgeable.

I'm pretty sure my 70 'cuda was sold new in Wichita KS, but I don't know which dealership. What make/model cars are you guys working on?

I think you have to have the original window sticker, certificard, pre 1967 punchcard or listing in your owners manual ??

My car is a 69 Road Runner. I think I'm the 5th owner so tracking it back to the original owner might be a challenge but it's worth the effort. Thanks for your input.

If your car was a hometown sold car .Ive found the ads in the library micro films.The description color or trans. Or the stock number in the owners manual .Or maybe a dealer plaque on the trunk or service decal in the door jamb or on the glove box .Might provide a clue

My friend Joe C who bought it in 73 later sold it to Rocky D. Fl or SC.These ad are the dealer and the car advertised as stock number #2749 appeared on the sales paperwork
