Has anyone had good luck with the Pertronix setup that supposidly eliminates points with a Hall Effect type sensor? I know they sell these for about $70 for Mopar big block single point dizzies.

I think Stu (MidPenMopar) changed recently (Last year) been having problems with another brand but has not a comlaint about the pertronics yet.

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Would you suggest bumping the timing a few degrees towards the advance side after install of this?

It's all I'll ever run,.....just be sure to buy the Flamethrower coil, the ohm rating is different, eliminate the ballast resistor, follow the instructions,....and if you go with either Pertronix I or II, (I'd recommend II) conversion kit, do not remove the green looking "Tape" on the rotor magnet, and do not use a metal feeler gage to set the air gap, a plastic gage is supplied,.....I'd recommend you purchase a new/rebuilt distributor for your conversion, as the HallCell is sensitive to "sloppy" tolerances in the dist shaft, a worn shaft/bushings will shorten/destroy the life of the HallCell, and cause irratic ignition woes,.......you will see an increased starting ability, and cleaner, longer use of dist caps, plugs, as long as you upgrade all your componets at the same time,....Pertronix also has plug wires avaliabl in black for mopar applications,....also do not run solid core racing wires, as this WILL destroy the HallCell
