I'm new to the forum and this may have been asked in the past ......I want to convert to a Rallye Dash on a 1974 satelite, will I need a new dash harness also?

Thanks

Yes. Rewiring it is possible too, I suppose (haven't looked at the FSM wiring diagram), but you'll need a bunch of wiring connectors that snap on to electrical terminal posts. And you'll probably need the FSM wiring diagram (which is available somewhere online) to know which goes where, as well as some soldering and heat shrink wrap tubing, to do it right.

The standard cluster wiring harness is completely different around the cluster than the rallye harness. You can rewire it to work, but it will take some splicing and dicing and you may have to get a little creative to get the backlighting to work.

You can use your existing harness fairly easily if you have the wiring diagram from the FSM. Cut the existing round connector off the existing harness and lengthen/terminate the wires as necessary. The wire colors in your harness will match the FSM. You may have to untape the headlight switch connector and/or the wiper switch connector from the harness to get it to reach, but there should be enough slack that they will reach.

He is right. The Standard cluster uses a round connector and the lights are twist locked into the board.

The rallye uses individual wires attaching to each guage and each light bulb is wired with push in sockets. o printed circuit board. It can be done but easier with the harness.

as stated, yes there are differences, but can be done.

Another diff is rallye cluster gets power in ACC and RUN for a while Standart cluster gets power just in RUN.

Try get a 74 ( specifically 74 due the interlock only 74 stuff ) rallye harness will make LOT EASIER and they are not that hard or expensive to get. I got it and made the conversion and I'm outside USA ( got on ebay USA )
