Could someone please measure their 1970 Challenger inside drivers door panel for the correct mounting location of the remote side-view mirror toggle lever?

I'm installing my restored door panels and discovered there is no hole in the driver side to mount the remote mirror toggle lever. I bought the car disassembled and with its original door panels, so apparently the car came new with a standard mirror and the previous owner bought this remote model to install. Now I have to cut a hole and want to be sure I do it in the right place.

There is a stamped, dotted circle on the backside in the area where the hole should be, but the same marking also exists on the passenger door panel (where no remote mirror was available), so I'm not certain it is the correct location.

The spot is marked (both sides for whatever reason) but they did not always hit it exactly......

Thanks Barry, that's the mark I was referring to on the back of mine. Weird that it would be on both sides though. Anyhow, I'll verify cable length/operation before cutting.

You can double check it with your inner door panel.

Okay, so I go out to mock it all up before cutting and discover that the cables as currently routed are not long enough to reach the inner door panel. They are currently running from the mirror down through a hole in a stock-looking bracket bolted to the inside front vertical edge of the actual door. The bracket is pointing downward with the hole located approximately mid-door. With the cable routed through it, there is not enough slack to route it back up to the correct location on the inside door panel. It does look like the bracket could be rotated 180 degrees to point upwards instead. That might provide the needed slack. Can anyone confirm the correct cable routing and bracket placement?

How long is your cable? (my inner door bracket is bagged & tagged - someplace)

The door, glass and mirror are assembled so I can't get an exact measurement, but it looks to be around 30 inches.

Once I took it out of the downward-pointing bracket, I had plenty of slack. I'm pretty sure if I flip the bracket 180 degrees (point it up) everything will work fine. Hoping someone can confirm. I'm gonna dig out the shop manual and see if there is a diagram.

Flipped it around and it works fine. The bracket is bolted in through a hole in the front vertical edge of the door.

Digging up a old post, does any one have a picture of the inside of the door showing the bracket and how it bolts up? I can only seem to get it bolt up one way and thats pointing down putting the cable in too much strain.

Thanks,

Paul

This is with the bracket flipped up. I agree the cable would be much better if I could get it to stay this way. But the way the nut is welded to the bracket you cannot bolt it up this way...

HELP!

This way is correct. The bolt comes in from the hole in the front outer skin, you can install it with a socket.

1932, 1970 must be unique I don't see a bracket in yours at all. Thanks for the pictures.
