I Finished it up this weekend, sounds wicked, we'll see. Lit off first crank. Checked the chassis cert, expired, open face helmet not legal, new belts expire in August. What else needs updating before I turn this monster loose?

Put it on the bathroom scale. LF-855 RF-876 LR-740 RR-776 Total-3247 This might be as close as I get with the leaf springs.

Looking good !! What's the combo? Brackets, heads-up or just a toy?

The combo is medium, CP 14 t0 1, Comp roller, DLI rockers, MCH heads, Total Seal, Milodon. Whatever it fits in that weekend is what it will run. Sometimes the match (grudge) races are the most fun.

When I did the front end alignment and the scaling on that car I got the Rt. rear to be 25lbs. heavier than the left and the car went real straight. The only thing I did not like is Bob did not use the stock type bushings which allow the front to work better. Jake

I might be 10 or 15 lbs lighter than Orlo. I used to fight in the lightweight division, have now porked up to 160. Scaled the car late last night (mistake). Every adjustment I made put weight on the wrong corner. You already know the answer, check the cables, genius. I'll be allright soon.

Al,the ole '65' looks great! Looks like Orlo sold the beauty to someone who keeps them as gorgeous as himself! Love those valve covers, especially with the '426' decal on them! RandyB

Bathroom scale - you're kidding, right?

Another thing to check - transmission blanket or shield for expiration.

It's always a pleasure to work on a rig this nice. My hats off to the whole Michigan crew that worked on this beast. Wife calls it my Black Mistress. Yes I'm kidding about the bathroom scale. I have a new CSR shield on it, need to get a full face helmet, and chassis cert is set for Friday. I know there's a blown 64 S/FX that can't wait to pick on me.

From what I remember, that would be a good grudge racer. Did you redo the motor?

I freshen the motor every year, but two years ago sucked a valve, so now have gone through it very thorough. It's a pretty good motor. A guy flew in from Hawaii just to see the car, amazing.

I learned something last night (yes it is possible). I didn't feel right about the first scaling. I had the cables hooked to the wrong corners, reattached them to the correct corners but did not take the car back off the scales. Glad I checked it again last night, because after zeroing, it was off. With some adjusting it's now at LF-859 RF-869 LR-778 RR-791 Total 3298 I hope I'm not chasing my tail.
