Got the new dipstick with the locking top. It must be the wrong one cause it hits the ear on the tranny to where it wont bolt to the bellhousing. Its a 1965 tranny so does it need a special one or can i grind on that ear? Not sure what that ear is for.

Retaped the under the dash wiring and installed the dash. Installed the gauges and dash pad also. Took me forever to decide on the gauges. The only thing bad about the sun tach is you have to buy a 60.00 msd tach adapter if you run the msd ignition, which I am.

Got the windlace on the drivers side installed and the inner sillplate which gave me fits to get in there. The passenger side windlace is giving me problems cause when installed the door wont shut. Gonna have to get someone to help with that.

Just started reading your build post,,looking great,,,FYI,,I just had to buy a tach adapter for my old Sun,,$80.00+. Don't let that wreck your build budget!! Keep up the good work. I'll keep watching.

Funny, I'm getting ready to do the exact same thing! Man, I'm glad you posted that! I'm running an MSD 6AL and wouldn've been ticked to have to spend an extra $60 on an adapter.

I almost pulled the trigger on that tach and some Summit gauges pretty close to what you have but they have white faces and I'm not crazy about the "Summit" logo. BTW, what brand are the gauges in the pod?

I was taking for granted, his was an older unit like mine. I was also under the impression, the NEW nostalgic looking Suns, ARE MSD compatabile(sp)??? Maybe I'm assuming too much! We all know what 'assume' does....anybody know for sure?? I had my older tach and wanted to use it for the 'period correct' look. After I hooked it up and it wouldn't work, I ordered the adapter. When I found out what it cost, I wasn't so sure I needed the look that bad. I had another tach that would have worked just fine as it had in the past.

That is the new sun tach but it does require the adapter. The other gauges are stewart warner that I got through Summit.

Well I got back from picking up my exhaust manifolds from Aesthetic Finishers in Piqua Oh. They ceramic cast coated them and they look awesome.

Hey Jeff, I'm actually north of Columbus between Mt. Vernon and Sunbury. Thanks guys for all the nice comments. I really need to start thinking about my motor next and who I'm going to have build it. Talked to a couple of different builders up in northern Ohio. Both seemed to be straitup honest guys. I just have to make up my mind who to go with
