What years had the retractable belts? My drivers side doesn't want to retract. What years am I looking for?

Only the front belts on the door side retract.

70 only, take it out & have a look at it, take the snap ring off & slide the pin back, it is holding a twisted spring so if the spring is broken it won't try to untwist.. I have found a few that broke right at the end, if that happens you can rework the spring, if it broke in the middle it's a parts seatbelt.. But some C bodies used the same design so you might find one of those....

Took the snap ring off and pulled out the roller assy. The spring is not broken,Put it back together and it seems to be working. What year c bodies had the same setup??

Maybe 69 definately 70.. I got some really nice parts off a nice 70 Sport Fury that took a hard hit back in the early 90's

OK thanks, I'll be looking for spare at Carlisle. One more question, are they different left from right?

Yes

FWIW If your looking for a spare you'll know visually if it's the one, they are the only two belts I've seen with the spring wrapped around a pin secured with a snapring... & the C body floor bracket is different so you need the E body bracket...

The Fact that Mike Ross (BEA is now reproducing these makes it a little easier.. Not cheap but his belts are super nice.. Not for the Concourse crowd but great for someone that wants it 95%+ visually correct & brand new...

I'd have to dig around in my junk, it's beem years since I played with them.. I think the E-body one is on the left... I'm assuming the other is C body but if theres another application give it up...
