Is there a trick to removing and re-installing the pass. side valve cover with the cross ram intake installed....or do you have to pull the intake to remove the valve cover (say it aint so).

You usually have to loosen the exhaust manifold. Lay some padding against the inner fender panel to protect the paint, back the manifold nuts way off then move the manifold outboard enough to clear the valve cover. In some tight cases you might have to remove the manifold nuts.

I put a 45 degree bevel on the lugs on the underside of the crossram intake so I could pull the valve covers. Without the machine work the intake had to come off to remove the valve covers. The guy who designed the intake must not have been too bright.
