I don't believe it was offered in 72, the early part anyway. 73 there was one as well as 74. I have a 72 Chally as well and put one on. Mine was somwhat awkward though. I have a 22" radiator and the brackets that holds the shroud on didn't allow me to mount it where it "should" go, in between the battery and the radiator. So, I mounted the bottle, minus the bracket on the right side, in between the windshield washer resevior and the radiator. It's not correct for the purist, but it looks and fits fine and I personally like the luxury of having the overlow bottle. I used the offset bracket that mounts the original 73-74 bracket up top and the tabs on the overflow bottle for mounting it to the rad support line up perfectly. I'll shoot a few pics and forward. If you have a 26" rad support it should fit perfectly in the correct spot. Make sure if you buy the bracket that it has the offset mounting piece that supports the bottom bracket to the rad support.

I have a 73 Challenger that I've owned since it was 6 mos. with 6000 miles, and still under warranty. It did not come with an overflow bottle. It has the rubber hose running from the radiator filler neck, across the top of the rad. tank on the drivers side, and then runs down the side of the tank, where the overflow would empty onto the ground.

Alright then. Maybe a 73 doesn't have the bottle but he's asking about a 72....

And not to get off topic, but how is your 6K mile 73 Challenger still under warranty??? I couldnt resist. And PS, I'm shooting the pics of the bottle today. And if you need the bracket I have an extra one.

Negative on the A Body, It's an E body tank, one of 4 I have. Maybe it just looks like an A body one cause it's on the wrong side and in the wrong year car?
