I'm building a new motor and getting ready to order a set of stage V heads. In specifying the springs which are for a Hydraulic roller cam the supplier had nothing but bad news on using the HR cam due to the higher push rod pockets in the lifters. He said the geometry is so bad that the heads need to be cut and the valves are guaranteed to float below 6000.... I had Crane (before they folded) design and send me the cam; it is HR-236/359-14 grind (lift .564/.546, dur @.050 236/236, springs 144# closed / 375# @1.36"). It is a turbocharged project.

Does anyone have HR experience with the HEMI's?

Thanks
Tom

I'm running a Comp HR in a Hemi and he is right ,"the geometry is so bad the heads need to be cut" they need a lot for pushrod clearance.
I disagree on the "the valves are guaranteed to float below 6000".Mine spins cleanly past 6500 and plenty of others do as well.

Thanks for the help Barry70GTX.
Did all of the push rod holes in the heads require clearancing; or just the intakes? I took an old motor apart today and took a look - looks like I can simply put the heads in the mill and change the angles.... Lastly, are you seeing any abnormal wear on the rocker shims due to the additional thrust angle?

Tom, You'll need to mock it up and see where and how much clearance you will need. Cams and castings vary enough to make each one a little different.
I may have about 10 hours run time on mine and haven't pulled a valve cover yet to check for any wear.
