I would be interested in hearing the combinations. Even if they are Chevy 383 examples that you know of. That is eventually what I am aiming for. A naturally aspirated 383 in an all steel 69 Dart{except hood} doing nines in the 1/4.

There was a guy that posted on here a few years back that sprayed a 383 in to the 9's. TRW pistons, iron heads, and the 557 MP cam if I remember right.

I'm sure there are plenty of low deck's that used to be 383's out there running 9's.

Join the club.
I haven't touched a ten *yet*, but I'm sure once I put it on the track it'll be there. I was running 122 and a half with 2.0 60s making power in the last 2/3 track. My setup was 11.50 friendly for sportsman, and let me tell you it was a wicked bracket deal. Had everyone in the class covered by like 6 mph +.
My combo is basic, stock bottom with trws, 440-1s unported, .585 comp solid 1.5/1.6 rockers, 930 holley. All steel 67 Charger up in that 3400 lb area. It did run 11.40s at 118 and 10.8 at 124 on juice with 906s.
fast68plymouth--11.1 123
super451b-- 11.1 120?
1swingin--11.1 121?
There was a guy (Hutch?) that ran a plymouth B with a HOT 383 that ran 9.97? at 137 I believe. He is the only guy running 9s N/A that I'm aware of.
Stroker cranks have their place--- just not in my motor.

Check the class: SS/IA. No 440's in I, that's a 383. The record is altitude factored, which is BS...I doubt there is ANYWHERE at sea level that car go 9.54 in. But I do know that in "good air" the car has been 9.70's in HA and 9.80's in IA.

That's right: a 383... With "stock replacement" heads and a "stock" carb...
