edelbrock 600
I have 6lbs going to it now
it starts right up idles good and runs good but if I give it quick gas it pops, but if I give it gas gradually then it revs up no problem
I am assuming I just need to tune it up. Any particular steps to adjusting the air mixure. or should I check anything else
timing is on the money.

thanks

Do you have the Edelbrock Performer Series Carb Owner's Manual? It's very helpful. My 1406 was two steps rich out of the box (on my mild 360). I've found the electric choke needs to be fine tuned on these carbs, too.

Also, Edelbrock suggests you set the fuel pressure regulator at 5.5 psi, and have no more than 6psi at idle and no less than 2psi at WOT.

I thought these carbs were factory jetted lean which if so would make it more likely to hesitate if any system isn't right

Too much accelerator pump shot can cause your problem. If you have the linkage in the top hole of the arm go to the middle hole and see if it helps.

It's going lean and if it drives well under light throttle and cruise I'd start by increasing the pump shot. You may also need to make slight changes to the metering rods, jets and step up springs. This assumes the timing is OK and the idle mixture is adjusted.

Is it new? Maybe has a bad accel pump if it is old.

I want my fair share
