So stock small blocks and stock big blocks spin around the same speed
I should add that this is with aftermarket rods, light pistons and a good balance job.

I use to turn my 3.600 stroke lowdeck 8600 every pass for one season, before the crank went south at the last race of the year. Stock 76 block with alum. main caps.
One day I will have something cool here.

I guess you guys see where this post is heading , been pricing out race blocks today and for the bucks a 451 B engine build sounds hard to beat , I just assumed there was a rpm advantage to small blocks but once ya add a little stroke it all seems to even out, lots of good reading on B engine builds just never looked till now
Its just the way you build them and with the right parts. I'm in the process of building a 514 BB that I expect to turn to 9000... good balance and light parts

Some years ago, Gecker had 452" and 471" low deck B1's that routinely went 8000+ in 400 blocks.. He had these in his Omni/Charger and Daytona.. Saw it with my own peepers.. Did he have failures?? Yep.. But not very many.. His worst engine failures were in the Hemi.. Very few with the low decks.. Chris..

Wow some of you really twist them bigblocks ! The 440 in my 63 is a stock shortblock with KB quench pad pistons so I could get quench with the factory 906 heads I run. That way it runs good on 92 pump at 10.0. I shift between 6000 and 6200 and trap around 6400 according to my tach. I guess the aftermarket heads wake them up more then I realized as I have never ran nothing but stock heads. But now that I am single I plan to build a nice aluminum head eng soon. Ron
from past experiance do not turn kb hypertechs above 7100-7200 or you will be picking pistons out of the pan
