Any one know the correct finish for the rear lower shock plates & u-bolts on a 69 Charger?

Not on a 69. The shock mounts are gloss black and the u-bolts are natural. Natural is not silver looking but more like steel. I let mine get some surface rust. That's original looking!

All 5 of my survivor 69's are unpainted. 2 early 3 late...but that is only 5 cars out of 10's of thousands.

Crikies, what to do, what to do???? Seems like one of those things like the leaf springs....black or natural?

I have looked at a lot of pics of high end restos....half were black, half gray.

Redid mine again in the gray finish to add some contrast color to my black undercarriage....thanks for the input all!

I can't vouch for any assembly line colors(parts) but I can tell you what I saw back then. Of all the '69 Charger R/Ts and '69 GTXs that I worked on. Not one had painted shock plates.
BARE STEEL
Whatever that's worth.

I can't see MaMopar painting the u-bolts and shock mounts. The leaf springs are a different story. I would always leave the u-bolts and shock mounts natural or at least natural looking.............

Production line, AND service replacement lower shock plates and u-bolts were not plated or painted, remaining in as-manufactured bare steel. U-bolt nuts were phosphate-coated. Leaf springs, however, have been found on original cars AND as service replacements both natural steel and painted.

Thanks again all for the replies. Got finished with the pass side & it makes a world of difference over the black painted springs I used to run. Also the correct 7" u-bolts look much better than the generic 8" ones I was running from ESPO.
I just took apart the drivers side & the center bolt was all twisted up like a pretzel. Had to go to a spring shop & get a replacement.
I wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of my originals....The ESPO ones I have don't have all the provisions for the "correct" amt of spring clamps like the original Hemi springs had......
Carlisle is coming fast!!!
