Is anyone using a primer before they use these paints?
I generally use Dupont Vari-etch primer, as a base, if you just apply the flatten paint of your choice, esp on aluminum (Chally grille), it's probally gonna peel/flake,...the etch primer will "bite" into the base metal,...Dupont has etch primer avaliable in mustard, green, black,....DON"T USE DUPONT'S NASON BRAND,....Eastwood also has a brand of Black etch primer available, I've used that too with excellent results, Eastwood, is available, in spraycan, qts, gals,.....I'd recommend professionaly spraying (spray gun) any pcs,...well worth the set-up/clean-up hassle, mno matter how small the pcs are

Marhyde has a trim black that matches pretty well. You can buy either rattle can or quart's. Ready to srray out of can, no mixing.
Doug,...I've used the Marhyde before, it was very good,....only thing I found was, it takes some time to dry,....OK if your pre painting assys to sit for sometime,.....I've used it to "fake" the textured organsol look by cranking up gun pressure, laying down a WET coat, then dusting it immediately about a foot away rapidly, in an X pattern, then a touch of silver, finely misted in the air about 3 ft off the project, allowed to drop/fall in the paint,......I've yet to try the Marhyde, spray textured with some black powdercoat powder added,...saw an A-12 lift-off hood done that way, looked AWESOME!
