Been trying to find out the skinny on this...the MSD 6013 Hemi 6 ignition controller. Is this to retrofit a Gen 3 hemi or is it just an add on to an existing 5.7/6.1 hemi? Mopar performance's ECU is tough to swallow at 2K+...is this the alternative?

It is only if you are running a carb. It does NOT fire fuel injectors. I have a setup, unused for 06'-up. may want to sell.

Correct, it won't interface with the fuel system.

However in addition to being able to run the ignition on a carbureted setup, it can also piggyback a stock computer and will let the end user change the timing to whatever they want, and also has the typical multi spark feature etc. In the second configuration the stock pcm would still control the fuel.

Thanks guys for the clarification...just trying to find a cheaper way to retrofit a salvage 6.1 into my Cuda...MP ECU is pretty steep!

it looks like hotwireauto may have the best solution. They seem to have the best price and their wiring is made to work in the older cars. about $1600 to run F.I. and make everything work.

You know the megasquirt guys have gotten the ms units to run the new hemis with fuel AND spark. They just pop on an aftermarket throttle body and use the stock sensors and go. But if you wanted to run carb you could just use the MS for timing only. Plus their units are by far your cheapest alternative.

Thanks for that DT; just trying to get the cost down anyway I can so I can justify the 5-6K it's going to cost me for a junkyard pullout...just like the EFI tank; there has got to be a suitable sub rather than the 1K after market jobs...thanks again.

For the efi tank you can add a fuel tank sump to the bottom of your stock tank, summit sells them. Just have to find someone who's willing to weld a gas tank, or buy a new tank. For a fuel pump you can run a universal in-line pump like the walbro 255 series gsl-392. That's all basically universal stuff for the "budget" efi conversion.

Saw the sumps for sale; isn't there someone who sells an "in tank" pump kit? I know someone who will weld it in for me...got a repopped tank sitting in the garage.

Someone does, I can't remember who but I remember seeing pics of it. Cost is not as cheap as a sump but the way to go if you want it invisible.
