Can the kickdown linkage be used to lower the wide open throttle shift point? Last year I relaced the governor on my BB /'65 tranny to raise the shift point. I installed a max wedge piece, and this raised my shift point at WOT from about 4500 rpm to 6000 rpm. I would like to lower this to about 5500-5700 rpm. Can this be done by shortening the linkage slightly?

I agree with this but minor adjustments will lower it.
A goververnor is the best way. Also more consistant with the linkage bottomed out but if you just want to lower the shift points across the board, shorten the rod.

Thanks, not a consensus here. I know it has an effect on line pressure, so I wouldn't change it much. I'll do some testing.
