Sorry for all the stupid questions but I need help again. I got the new intake on (318 with M1 dual plane). There is no hole for the heater hose nipple and I was told that the fitting with 3 tubes is not used but that is the only thing that will fit in the hole. Any ideas?

The red arrow is where I think the fitting with 3 tubes goes. The blue arrow is pointing to a hole and Ihave no idea what goes in it.

PS: Excuse the filthy engine. It will be getting a makeover in about a month.

The "three tube fitting" is a thermal vacuum switch. It allows vacuum to pass after a certain coolant temperature has been reached. It was originally used for an e.g.r. or some other "smog" device. Unless you are keeping all of the factory "smog" equipment intact,I wouldn't worry about putting it back. I would put the heater hose nipple in the large hole and plug the small one.If you have to, it looks like there's enough material around the small threaded hole to allow you to enlarge it to another thread size if necessary.Don't forget to use thread sealer on the nipple.

I have ordered this heater hose nipple http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/19ahehonikit.html but it doesn't fit. Any suggestions? Or will I just have to adapt it somehow?

I would have swore that those would have been the right ones but go to your plumbing/hardware store & see what they have for a reducer and I see that you have the oe sender already in there so just get a brass npt plug while you are there to plug the blue hole

RR, I just got off the phone with Mancini and there are 2 versions of the M1 intake. The one I have needs parts for 1979 and later engines, as well as a larger heater hose nipple. Your not the only one that was confused
