I just disassembled my '71 GTXs air grabber flap assembly and need to figure out what plating was used on the misc parts? Basically: the long rod, flapper hinges, and the end bracket that the assist spring attaches to.
Are the end caps and flapper door the same color orange as the air cleaner lid?

Thanks

The long rod and bracket for pod should be black zinc. Roll pins are clear zinc. And the end caps and flapper are AC orange as you already suspected.

Thanks Dirk,

Were the flapper hinges and the assist spring bracket the same?

Yes the flapper hinges are the same black zinc. I didn't mention the flapper assist spring because I can't recall if I did that black phosp. or clear zinc. Be sure to take pics of it all before you take it apart. You'll be glad you did , since the hinges can be mounted backwards.
