Looking for a picture or drawing of the 383 timing
tab as mine is not readable. I'm going to attempt to start the engine for the first time after a complete rebuild and drop the electronic distributor in. My timing tab is rusted too badly and now painted over so that I can't read it. There is a hole in it that I suspect may be TDC. I can read the word "before" and there appear to be some lines but I can't tell what they represent in degrees. The book says to set the timing at 10 to 12 degrees before TDC but which lines represent 10 and 12 degrees? Do I drop the distributor in with the balancer pointing to TDC or at the 10 or 12 degree before TDC mark? Thanks for the help.

I have 70 383 HP. On mine there are three lines left of (when looking at front of engine) the hole. The hole represents TDC. The three lines to the left are 5, 10 and 15 degrees BTDC.
