Is an original A12-727 built to Hemi specs. Pulled my pan off and found a 3.0 lever? Bought a kit from CRT and was told it should be all Hemi bands, drum, etc....

Mine was not a hemi trans,had 3.8 lever and 4 clutches and mine was numbers matching but have heard different answers so an a-12 expert will chime in soon I hope.I took mine down first time a couple years ago and was kinda disappointed but not that big of deal,mine had broke a flex plate or something and had a chunk broke out of bell housing from its racing days on the bottom where dust cover bolts up,I thought that was a hemi factory slot for access to verter bolts but when removed seen was not factory at all,I cleaned up the area with sawsall and it looks factory now.I put extra clutch on rebuild and went with red clutches and kolene steels so will be better and badder than original anyway.It is my back up till I sell or restore.My oppinion from mine is they just had heavy duty 727 not hemi.If not mine was stripped and redone long before I owned it,but numbers on case are matching my vin but not hemi trans numbers.Hope this helps.....

Not an expert but the 727 in an a12 is just the regular 440 trans, not the hemi version.

A non-Hemi "093" 727 trans out of a '69 383 Super Bee....

There was no specification for modifying an 093 trans from the factory that I know of? An 093 is an 093 which was standard in 440HP and 383HP cars. The 70 440-6 trans were different than the 383/440HP trans but not in 69. Of course, there is nothing wrong with tricking it up a little for your car today!
