What is the length of a drive shaft on a 1971 Plymouth Duster from a 904 transmission to a 8 3/4" rear end?

I am trying to using the drive shaft I have right now and it appears about 1" to long. Not sure if I can move something to make it fit.

Any advice?

Craig

Jon, not what you want to hear, but I had to have mine shortened, found place in National City that was a truck driveshaft serve center.

Ideal driveshaft length:

1. Bottom out the slip yoke inside the transmsission
2. Measure the distance between the U-joints front to rear
3. Subtract 1" from this measurement

If the driveshaft you have is from a 904 and a 7 1/4 rear then it will have to be shortened to fit the 8 3/4 as the 8 3/4 rearend is larger to the front than the 7 1/4....

Or do you have more driveshafts around from other cars?

Where does the 49.27" begin and end?
