finally got the 6pt in the car and decided to make some full power runs and on the second run on the bottle it broke off the line. i launch the car on nitrous off the foot brake and it normally 60' 1.39-1.42.
the lader bar bracket broke off the diff housing on the launch most likely cause by looking at it would be too cold of welds. "if you want something done right" this is the only thing i didnt personally do to the car was the rear suspension. oh well

now my question when the lader bar broke it bent the 8 3/4 housing pretty bad. should i have it straightened, get a moser 8 3/4 fabbed housing or just go dana. the housing that is in it is back braced.

what to do
single choice

did the weld just break off oh the tube or did it pull a piece of the tube with it? if it just broke off it had no penetration.

the welds broke off the tube. i told the guy that installed the lader bars he needs to get a better welder. i only have like 60 passes on that set up.the deepest nick the welds took out of the housing was only .040" so the welds were just not penetrating enough. unfortunately its gonna cost me a decent ammount of money to fix it. but at least i didnt put my baby in the wall.

I had the very same thing happen a number of years ago at Dragway 42, I got lucky and cut the end's off and re-welded the bracket's and end's back on with the jig and friend who is a professional welder, welded it all back together,, the first guy only welded one side of each bracket, I ran that housing for a couple more years and then built the Dana and never looked back.

Yes...........50" flange to flange and I hope I never break it.

IMO, ditch the 8 3/4". I shelled all the teeth off the ring gear
and the housing was twisted from trans-brake launches with
a 340 @ 2830 lbs.

99% of the time there arent problems there. but just like anywhere a lot of people get togather there are bound to be problems.

Yep, was there not too long ago and a guy coming down the return lanes in a truck was angry since he thought he lost and the other guy redlit..told his friends to go to the parking lot so they could kick his a.., sad that some people try to ruin things for others. Havent seen your car run out there but ive seen pictures of it before, go with a dana IMO, goodluck with your car maybe ill see it there one night.

Dana...

Thery're out there. I just bought a truck Dana 60 yesterday for $120 off Craig's list from a guy 10 minutes from my house. I'll narrow it to fit my chassis and get Mopar ends on it. My 8 3/4 is definitely on borrowed time now that I'm hotting it with the spray.

10.75 @ 125.35 w/ a little spray
