How would you test a coil?

Test by checking resistance on the primary winding, across the positive and neg. terminals and also by checking secondary resistance, from the + or - to the tower. Coils specs are all different, but if it's a mopar style coil you should see between 1.5-2.0 ohms on the primary and about 9000- 12000 ohms on the secondary.

sorry to hear that. I was going to suggest a person you want to watch jump around a bunch. Have them hold the coil wire and you spin the engine over.

Also check each post to the case to make sure the winding isnt shorted to ground.

I've got a complete FBO Elec ignition system freshly installed in June. Reg, Bal resistor, coil check out OK. Will be looking at ECU and Dist next. The Bees' probably in for the winter here in Maine so I guess I've got the whole winter to figure it out

Charlie, Do you have the complete FBO set-up? What type of problems are you having?
