I have to replace the heater core in my 96 3500 and a guy at a local repair shop told me to replace the evaporator too as they are prone to breaking. I have not heard of one failure but what is the consensus among owners with experience in this area. Are they a problem? Hate to spend extra money if it is just a waste of it but while it is apart it may be worth it. Thanks.

I'm not an owner but we do stock it. I just looked back through our history and we've averaged selling about 1 every two months over the last two years-Mopars average weekly demand is 133.

Thanks for the info. How about heater cores? Probably a couple a month.

Look like we're selling about as many cores as evaporators. Mopar's awd on them is a little over a hundred. But I think the lower number from the factory is because the aftermarket started doing them a lot sooner-I know they're a fast mover.

Its just the cost of the part while its apart. They were prone to leaks.Thats why most replace the heater and evap at the same time.Rocky
