My 84 truck has a sticker on it says converted to freeze 12. I was able to get a couple of cans of the "freon" but am having trouble finding the proper fill hose. The low side fitting is a standard righthand thread aprox 1/4" flare and the high side is a lefthand tread of simular size. The can has a small 1/8 pipe aprox type tread. anyone shead any light on where to find the correct adaptor so I can get some freon in this thing to see if it will cool? Getting warmer by the day 85* today.

The freeze 12 fitting is the old style. You should br able to buy a hose to go from the can to the low side fitting at any parts store.

for some reason those fittings are not the same as the old r-12 at least on my truck. They are a threaded fitting but larger than the r-12 fittings. Also the tread on the can is not the same as the r-12. It states on the label on the can that the fittings are diffrent also but dosent give a pn#.

So are you trying to put freeze 12 back in or R12? The freeze 12 fittings should come off and you can then use the R12 hoses.

I converted an old Acclaim to Freeze12, used connectors provided. To get your old R12's, just unscrew the fittings on it now, unless someeone's already pulled them,, then you should have the right ones there.

I see that the original r-12 fittings are still there but I would have to "open the system" if I removed the adaptor fittings. I'm just trying to top off the charge as there is still some pressure in the system as the compresor kicks on and off when I turn on the a/c. The other problem I am having is non of the "can openers" or fittings that screw on the can fit the freeze-12 can I have. I finally found a part# for the "can opener" now I just have to find someone that sells it locally. If all else fails there is a vender on e-bag that sells it. Funny thing is this stuff is made in Cleburne tx which is like 15 miles from here I work. You would think parts stores around here would know more about this stuff.

Why would removing the new fittings open the system? Most of those are just screwed onto the original fittings that have a valve core in them.

I guess I'm just assuming that u would remove the valve cores on the originals before u put the adaptors on so that the system would take freon.

The new fittings push the original cores down so they are open. When you remove them original cores will close normally. Just like valve core extensions on tires do. If you have a standard set of A/C hoses and gauges you can get an adapter for the F12 cans that screws onto the gauge set.

Just buy one of the a/c can taps that goes around the outide of the can and punctures a hole in the side. Those have both the standard R12 fitting and the 134 fitting so your manifold set will hook up to one of those. No need for the special freeze 12 fitting for the top of the can.

Thats what I ended up with. It clamps around the can and punctures a hole in the side. Got 3 cans in the system last nite and will need a couple more to top it off. cools but not continous right now.
Thankyou to all for the help and suggestions.

Put a can of this in, works fantastic! Sealed a leak that o rings and everything wouldn't.
They make it for R134 too.
