Was the 4 speed in the '65 A990 Hemi cars 23 spline or 18 spline?

I'm going to take a SWAG and say 23 spline in 1965 and 18 spline in the Hemis and a lot of 440 after 1966, maybe not My thinking is based on the NP833 being used the first time in 1964 and the little SS tires would spin a lot back then and not really strain the trans very much

Yes, for 65 it would have been a 23 spline with a ball & trunion tail shaft.

*Edit: Brain fart, I was thinking of 64's

"The 1965 Super Stock 426 Hemi-powered vehicles received the first heavy duty "Hemi" 18-spline input models."

From Brewer's website which is the only place on the internet with that info. Interesting... and exactly what I was hoping to find out .

I think somebody has one for sale here about 6 month ago. I was hoping to find that picture somewhere on the internet but no luck.

I thought that 64 was the last year for ball and trunion.

NOT, I had a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 with a ball and trunion 4 speed. I have seen several other also, 1965 was the first year the automatic had the slip yoke U joint in front Not so for the 4 speeds and maybe the three speed sticks?

Some 65s and most 65 Hemi cars had the updated slip yoke, both auto and 4 speeds 65 was the last year for the rear pump trans.

I also had a 65 Coronet 500 4 speed with ball & trunion front joint. Those things seem to be super duty.
