Would anyone know if the 1970 340 pipes were welded or clamped to the resonator?
340, 383, and 440 were all welded. Only the Hemi was clamped

Parts books indicate otherwise, but I know of and have seen an original exhaust 340 Cuda and the resonator is clamped on it.
Thanks Terry. I thought that they were welded. My original mufflers and over the axle pipes came with my car, but missing the head pipe and resonators. I suspected that they were welded and all my pictures of orig 340 cars do not have the pipe/resonator area!

Looking at some pics of Dave Walden's hemi cuda and r/t challenger and noticed the hemi cuda has clamps at the h-pipe/resonators and the challenger is welded. Dave, did you learn something since the cuda, or are hemi cars different?
Dave's not here.
Sorry - couldn't resist!

71 383 Challenger R/T welded. I believe these are original factory installed. IIRC, SPD Feb 1971. Clamped axle pipe.
