I have a 273 Commando in a 65 Barracuda Formula S. 4 speed. Looking for a intake and cam ideas.. it's stock now with 3.23 gears.

Forget that stock 273 and buy a good used running 360 manual tranny motor out of a pickup and install it twocents work up

Because you're in the 'racing' section, it's likely you'll get many similar responses. I have to agree with Cab. At least get a $400 360 and use that. If you paint and detail it well it can look very era-correct/production. It takes too much time and effort to go thru a motor where you'll be happy in the end, that near 100 extra CID make being 'happy' much easier. Another benefit is you can leave the gear alone.

I know a few Stock Eliminator guys *cough cough* who would take that old 273 off your hands for a fair price and give you a head start on that new 360 based tire shredder.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

273 has the little clutch and flywheel on it, so you'll also be looking for a flywheel, clutch and bellhousing for the 360.

Depending on your intent (keep it all original but day 2 ish) or just better performance I'm in agreement with the others put a 360 in it and don't look back.
