I'm trying to remove the drivers side valve cover on my 528 hemi, but it doesn't seem to want to slide over the spark plug tubes. Do these have to be removed to get the valve cover off? I don't want to force anything a damage something. The gasket is not sticking to the cover, I can wiggle it around, but it doesn't want to slide off of the cylinder head.

Yes. You have to remove the spark plugs and the tubes will come out.
